Although enrolment in these courses is not a requirement for sitting the DELE examinations, they are highly recommended as they help students become familiar with the exam format, assessment criteria and examination tasks.
Students enrolled on DELE preparation courses are entitled to a 20% discount on the official examination registration fee.
These courses are intended for students with a superior (C1) command of Spanish who wish to maintain, consolidate and continue developing their language skills.
Through the use of authentic materials and communication-focused activities, these courses help students refine their use of the language, expand their vocabulary, and gain a deeper understanding of the linguistic and cultural nuances of the Spanish-speaking world.
They also provide an opportunity to broaden and update knowledge of the social and cultural realities of Spanish-speaking countries, fostering ongoing and enriching engagement with the language.
Literature courses are designed for students who wish to engage with the rich literary heritage of the Spanish language and discover, through its works and authors, the cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world. The study of literary texts provides valuable insights into the historical, social, cultural and intellectual developments that have shaped the diverse realities of Spanish-speaking countries.
These courses also contribute to the enhancement of linguistic proficiency, as they are based on authentic texts written for native speakers and characterised by a rich variety of registers, styles, literary devices and language usage. Through the analysis and discussion of these texts, participants expand their vocabulary, develop a deeper understanding of the nuances of Spanish, and strengthen their skills in both interpretation and expression.
The course is aimed at learners of Spanish who have already reached an advanced level and wish to explore and share their knowledge of the world around them, with a particular focus on current affairs and issues related to the Spanish-speaking world. Topics will include different aspects of society, culture, politics and technology, among others, through the study of news reports and current affairs articles published across a variety of media platforms.
The course provides opportunities to continue developing key language skills, including:
- Receptive skills: listening and reading comprehension
- Productive skills: speaking and writing
- Interaction skills
These skills will be developed through activities such as: Description and summarising, Discussion and debate, Critical analysis and Oral presentations.
By engaging with authentic and up-to-date materials, participants will enhance their linguistic proficiency while gaining a deeper understanding of contemporary issues affecting the Spanish-speaking world.
This course is designed for students who wish to develop their communicative skills in Spanish for professional and business contexts. Through the study of current economic, financial and corporate topics, participants will expand their specialised vocabulary, improve their spoken and written fluency, and acquire the linguistic tools needed to operate more confidently in the business environment.
The course content covers a range of key areas, including the banking system, marketing, technology, Brand Spain, the property market and human resources, combining the study of advanced grammatical structures with the analysis of real-life case studies and trends shaping today’s business world.
By integrating language learning with contemporary business issues, the course enables students to strengthen both their professional communication skills and their understanding of the economic and corporate realities of the Spanish-speaking world.
The special conversation courses at Instituto Cervantes London are designed for students who wish to develop their conversational skills in Spanish. These courses pursue two main objectives:
- To enable students to communicate effectively in a variety of real-life situations they may encounter in Spanish-speaking countries and to participate confidently in conversations with native speakers.
- To help students achieve the appropriate level of fluency for their stage of learning.
These objectives are achieved through group discussions on current topics and the simulation of everyday situations using role-play activities. Although the courses do not focus explicitly on grammar instruction, students will have the opportunity to practise and consolidate the linguistic structures appropriate to their level.
No single textbook is used. Instead, students work with a wide variety of authentic materials and resources, including written texts, newspapers, audio recordings, videos, and other multimedia content.
