Autonomous learning Spanish Online Courses (AVE GLOBAL)
Spanish Anywhere, Anytime
Learn Spanish online with AVE Global (Aula Virtual de Español), the Instituto Cervantes' online learning platform. AVE Global is an interactive internet-based course specifically designed by Instituto Cervantes for distance learning, allowing you to study Spanish whenever and wherever it suits you.
The platform offers a flexible, engaging, and autonomous learning experience, enabling students to progress through the language at their own pace while benefiting from high-quality educational content developed by language-teaching specialists.
To use AVE Global, you will need a computer and an internet connection.
This course has been specially designed to help you prepare for the exam. The course materials will give you the opportunity to practise all sections of the exam and improve your speaking and writing skills.
Access to online activities for 90 days.
Online registration
AVE is available for use in schools and universities as part of their own courses or as supplementary learning material for students. It can be used by both teachers and students in the classroom, language laboratory, or at home.
It is an ideal visual and interactive learning tool, as well as a valuable source of materials for additional practice and for meeting the diverse needs of learners in mixed-ability groups.
The flexible design of AVE Global means that we can tailor a package to suit any educational setting.
If you would like to work completely independently, at your own pace and without fixed schedules, this is the perfect option for you. AVE Global is the Instituto Cervantes’ comprehensive online programme for autonomous Spanish learning, covering levels A1 to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
In the self-study mode (without a tutor), AVE Global provides access to more than 10,000 interactive activities and self-assessment tests, allowing you to learn Spanish online with complete flexibility.
Features
- Each course involves approximately 30 hours of independent study.
- Courses are divided into three units, each requiring around 10 hours of work.
- Study at your own pace, with no fixed timetable.
- You will have access to each course for three months from the date of enrolment.
Fees and Enrolment
- Before enrolling, you must take a specific placement test designed for these courses.

Whether you are a complete beginner or already have some knowledge of Spanish, if you would like to study independently while benefiting from the support of a personal tutor to practise speaking and improve your oral communication skills, this is the ideal option for you.
Levels available
Available at all levels, from Initial 1 (A1.1) to Advanced (C1.4).
What's Included
- Interactive online activities through the Moodle platform.
- Self-assessment tests with immediate results.
- Five individual 45-minute tutoring sessions via Zoom videoconference.
Duration
10 weeks (approximately 4-5 hours of study per week).

Courses begin during the first and third week of each month.

How to Enrol
Step 1: Placement Test
- If you already have some knowledge of Spanish, you must first complete the AVE Global placement test.
- If you are a complete beginner, proceed directly to Step 2.
Step 2: Arrange the Dates and Times of Your Zoom Tutoring Sessions
Once your level has been established, please contact aclon1@cervantes.es to arrange the dates and times of your Zoom sessions.
Please note that tutor sessions take place every two weeks. Between sessions, you will work independently through the Moodle platform, allowing you to raise any questions and discuss your progress with your tutor during the following session.
Step 3: Complete Payment to Finalise Your Enrolment
The team at aclon1@cervantes.es will provide instructions for payment by bank transfer or debit/credit card.
Course Cancellation
Course cancellations are subject to the Institute's general terms and conditions.
Rescheduling or Cancelling Zoom Sessions
Students must notify aclon1@cervantes.es in writing at least 24 hours in advance if they wish to reschedule a scheduled session. Requests received with less than 24 hours' notice, or sent to any other email address, will not be accepted and the session will be considered as delivered.
A maximum of two rescheduled or cancelled tutor sessions per course is permitted.
