[Qué es el DELE]
Requirements
DELE examination centers are institutions officially recognized by the Instituto Cervantes and authorized to administer DELE examinations. Depending on the type of registrations they process, there are different categories of examination centers. In all cases, however, DELE examination centers serve as official sources of information on DELE examination sessions and qualifications worldwide.
Becoming a DELE examination center involves managing and coordinating both the logistical and administrative aspects of the examinations, as well as promoting and publicizing the DELE examination sessions held each year.
DELE examination centers are expected to provide candidates with information and guidance on:
DELE examination centers must provide candidates with information and guidance on:
- The DELE examination most appropriate to their level of Spanish proficiency.
- Free DELE preparation materials provided by the Instituto Cervantes.
- DELE preparation courses offered either by the examination center or by the Instituto Cervantes.
DELE examination centers authorized to administer the examinations must comply with the academic and administrative guidelines issued annually by the Instituto Cervantes.
Exam Sessions
DELE examination centers are generally not required, except in specific cases, to administer all DELE exam sessions offered by the Instituto Cervantes. However, they are required to comply with the instructions and requirements established by the Instituto Cervantes for the administration and management of DELE examinations.
Benefits
The administration of the DELE examinations is carried out exclusively through a network of officially recognized centers.
Becoming a DELE examination center involves managing and coordinating both the logistical and administrative aspects, as well as the promotion and dissemination of the DELE examination sessions held each year (February, April, May, July, September, October, and November).
What makes DELE special?
-
Being part of the Instituto Cervantes network of examination centers adds value, as it carries the endorsement, prestige, and international recognition of the Instituto Cervantes.
-
DELE diplomas are official Spanish language qualifications with worldwide recognition and are considered a highly valuable credential by both students and teachers.
Becoming a DELE examination center also allows institutions to diversify their teaching offer by providing exam preparation courses, which can become an important source of income that, in many cases, even exceeds the revenue generated by the exam itself.
- The DELE exam acts as an incentive to attract students to the center, thanks to its course offer and the processes of assessment and certification.
Procedure
In compliance with Law 40/2015, the Instituto Cervantes has developed three assessment and administrative procedures for institutions wishing to become part of the DELE/CCSE examination center network.
In accordance with this law, the procedure varies depending on whether the applicant is:
- A private or public institution;
- An institution applying to carry out certification activities in Spain or outside Spain; or
- An institution that already belongs to the network of Centers Accredited by the Instituto Cervantes (SACIC).
Application Procedures: Features and Requirements
As a general rule, in order to join the DELE/CCSE examination center network, an institution that receives a positive evaluation must sign an agreement. If the institution is publicly owned, this will be a non-regulatory international agreement; if it is a private institution, a contract must be signed.
Applications for Centers Operating Outside Spain
All applications for recognition as a DELE examination center located outside Spain must be processed through the User Support Service (SAU) portal.
Examination centers must operate through a coordinating Instituto Cervantes center, which acts as the main contact point for pre-recognition procedures and, once the institution becomes part of the DELE or CCSE network, for the management of examination sessions.
For more information on the Instituto Cervantes reference centers, please consult our worldwide network of offices.
The coordinating Instituto Cervantes center may carry out a visit to the applicant institution to verify the information provided and assess the application on site.
How to Apply for a New Examination Center via the User Support Service (SAU)
Once in the SAU portal, the applicant institution must create a request under the topic “DELE Examinations,” select “Application to become an examination center” in the dropdown menu “What is your request about?”, and provide as much detail as possible in the field “Please provide details and include all relevant information,” ensuring that the institution’s name and country are clearly indicated..
