¿Cómo puedo inscribirme?

La inscripción en cualquier curso general o especial ofertado por el Instituto Cervantes de Dublín puede realizarse:

Niveles

Courses are offered across 6 levels, from A1 to C2, and are divided into 30- or 60-hour modules. The division of levels follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The CEFR aims to achieve greater consistency and transparency among EU member countries in the study of foreign languages. This helps increase mobility within member states, facilitates the mutual recognition of language certificates, and promotes cooperation among educational institutions in different countries.

The CEFR defines proficiency levels that determine linguistic ability in the areas of communicative competence, productive and receptive skills, and language competence for specific purposes.

No previous knowledge of Spanish is required to enroll in A1.1 level courses. To enroll in all other levels, students must either be former students or pass a placement test.

Acceso

At this level, the student is able to understand and use very common everyday expressions as well as simple phrases aimed at meeting immediate needs. They can introduce themselves and others, and ask for and provide basic personal information about their home, belongings, and people they know. They can interact in a basic way as long as their interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to cooperate. Classes at this level are taught in Spanish, with very limited use of English. This level is divided into two blocks: A1.1 and A1.2.

Plataforma

At this level, the student is able to understand frequently used sentences and expressions related to areas of experience that are especially relevant to them (basic information about themselves and their family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.). They can communicate when carrying out simple and routine tasks that require only simple and direct exchanges of information on familiar or everyday matters. They can describe, in simple terms, aspects of their past and surroundings, as well as issues related to their immediate needs. This level is divided into four blocks: A2.1, A2.2, A2.3, and A2.4.

Umbral

At this level, the student is able to understand the main points of clear, standard language texts when they deal with familiar topics, whether in work, study, or leisure contexts. They can cope with most situations likely to arise while travelling in areas where the language is spoken. They are able to produce simple, coherent texts on topics that are familiar to them or of personal interest. They can describe experiences, events, wishes, and aspirations, as well as briefly justify their opinions or explain their plans. This level is divided into four blocks: B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, and B1.4.

Avanzado
At this level, the student is able to understand the main ideas of complex texts dealing with both concrete and abstract topics, including technical material within their field of specialization. They can interact with native speakers with a sufficient degree of fluency and spontaneity so that communication flows without strain for either party. They can produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and present a viewpoint on general topics, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different options. This level is divided into six blocks: B2.1, B2.2, B2.3, B2.4, B2.5, and B2.6.

C1
Dominio

At this level, the student is able to understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and to recognize implicit meaning within them. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without obvious signs of effort to search for the right expression. They can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes. They can produce clear, well-structured, and detailed texts on complex subjects, demonstrating a controlled use of organizational patterns, linking devices, and cohesive structures.

This level is divided into six non-sequential blocks, meaning students may take them in any order: C1.1, C1.2, C1.3, C1.4, C1.5, and C1.6.

Maestría

There is no difficulty in understanding any type of spoken language or in expressing oneself fluently and conveying subtle nuances of meaning with precision. The use of idioms, fixed expressions, and colloquial language in speech is also mastered. The student is able to write clear, fluent texts in an appropriate style, as well as read with ease virtually all forms of written language.

Placement Test


Antes de inscribirte en nuestros cursos generales o de conversación, es necesario realizar un examen de nivel en los siguientes casos:

  • Nunca has estudiado en el Instituto Cervantes de Chicago y no eres un principiante absoluto.
  • Completaste tu última evaluación de curso o nivel con nosotros hace más de un año.

La prueba es gratuita y consta de dos partes: una prueba de gramática, que podrás realizar en línea en cualquier momento, tras la cual se te pedirá que reserves una cita para tener una breve conversación con uno de nuestros profesores por teléfono.
