ELECTRONIC LIBRARY
From anywhere, at any time, and on any device: the Instituto Cervantes electronic library is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with just an Internet connection.

The Instituto Cervantes electronic library is a collection of online resources and services where users can borrow and read digital books, listen to music and audiobooks, access electronic resources (databases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, etc.), participate in virtual book and film clubs, and more.
To use the electronic library's resources and services, you must become a member via the Instituto Cervantes e-commerce platform. The fee is €14 per year.
The "Leemos" virtual book club connects readers from around the world to share and discuss outstanding works of Spanish and Spanish-American literature online—all of which are available in our e-book collection.
We also offer the "E-LEemos: graded readers" virtual book club, featuring which focuses on reading and discussing Spanish texts adapted to specific proficiency levels, aiming to help students advance their communicative and intercultural competence while refining their language skills.
Additionally, our "Mosaico" virtual book club is dedicated to works in Catalan, Galician, and Basque. It serves as a space for cultural exchange and dialogue, allowing participants to enjoy and explore the literature of these three co-official Spanish languages, discover their authors, and broaden the literary and cultural offerings available through our online services.
These virtual clubs are facilitated by professional moderators and coordinators who guide the conversation and supplement the selected readings with materials and information regarding the works' contexts and authors—who often join the online discussions themselves. There are only two requirements for participating in these book clubs: an appropriate level of Spanish proficiency and a valid membership card for our electronic library or any library within the Instituto Cervantes network.
We encourage you to join the Instituto Cervantes virtual book clubs—as outlined in this brief guide—and to contact us if you have any questions.
"Cita con el cine" (A Date with Cinema)—the virtual film club of the Instituto Cervantes library network—is an electronic library service that allows you to watch scheduled films or documentaries and discuss them with people from around the world who share an interest in cinema. Its aim is to foster an appreciation for Spanish and Spanish-American cinema among the public, promote the work of our creators, and—through the participation and moderation of directors, screenwriters, actors, critics, librarians, cultural managers, educators, and others—bring the filmmaking process closer to the general public. There are only two requirements for participating in this forum for cinematic discussion and learning: a good command of Spanish (at least B1 level) and a valid library membership card.
Electronic library resources
Borrow thousands of digital books—covering linguistics, Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE), classic and contemporary literary works by Spanish and Hispanic-American authors, history, art, science, and more, as well as editions and materials for children and young adults—by accessing the digital lending platform.
With this new way of reading—and new titles added daily—you can discover works from over two hundred publishers worldwide, publications from the Instituto Cervantes, and editions from partners such as the Union of Spanish University Publishers (UNE), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the publishing units of the General State Administration, alongside magazines and audiovisual materials.
Through our digital library, you can also download Spanish-language audiobooks by classic and contemporary authors in their original versions, narrated by professional voice actors.
Audiobooks—an alternative to conventional reading—are recordings of a book's content, read aloud by a narrator. These recordings feature a single voice and present unabridged versions of the original works, distributed in digital format.
They are highly useful for learning and teaching languages, training listening skills, making the most of leisure time or commutes, and accompanying sports activities. Furthermore, they are especially valuable in enabling visually impaired individuals to access great literature and allowing children to listen to stories that interest them.
Our audiobook catalogue includes classic works, contemporary fiction, children's literature, and works on thought and philosophy. Our audiobooks can also be accessed via the lending platform.
You can also access the numerous electronic journals to which the Instituto Cervantes library network subscribes via our electronic library.
In addition to these journals covering culture and applied linguistics, a significant number of multidisciplinary journal titles can also be found by searching across multiple databases—such as Digitalia, Hapi Online, or Dialnet Plus.
Among the services the library network offers its members is free, unrestricted access to a multitude of databases and other high-quality, specialized information resources; we provide a complete list of these, organized both alphabetically and by subject.
