ELECTRONIC LIBRARY
From anywhere, at any time, and on any device: the Instituto Cervantes Electronic Library is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with just an Internet connection.

The Instituto Cervantes Electronic Library is a collection of online resources and services where users can borrow and read digital books, listen to music and audiobooks, access electronic resources (databases, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, directories, etc.), take part in virtual reading and film clubs, and much more.
To use the resources and services of the Electronic Library, you need to become a member through the Instituto Cervantes e-commerce platform. The membership fee is €20 per year.
ind out more information about our Electronic Library and, if you still have any questions, leave us a message through our user support service.
The Leemos a virtual reading club connects readers from around the world to share and discuss outstanding works of Spanish and Latin American literature online, all of which are available in our e-book collection.
We also offer the E-LEemos: Graded Readings virtual reading club, where participants can read and discuss Spanish texts adapted to different language levels. Its aim is to help Spanish learners improve their communicative and intercultural competence and develop their language skills.
In addition, our Mosaico virtual reading club is dedicated to reading works in Catalan, Galician, and Basque. It provides a space for cultural exchange and dialogue, allowing participants to enjoy and explore literature in these three co-official languages of Spain, discover their authors, and expand the literary and cultural offering available through our online services.
These virtual clubs are supported by professional moderators and facilitators who encourage discussion and complement the selected readings with materials and information about the context of the works and their authors, who often also take part in online discussions.
There are only two requirements to participate in these literary clubs: an appropriate level of Spanish and a valid membership card for our Electronic Library or for any of the libraries that form part of the Instituto Cervantes Library Network.
We encourage you to take part in the Instituto Cervantes virtual clubs. You can find more information in this brief guide, and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
The Instituto Cervantes Library Network’s virtual film club, Cita con el cine, is an Electronic Library service that allows you to watch scheduled films and documentaries and discuss them with people from around the world who share an interest in the seventh art.
Its aim is to promote appreciation of Spanish and Latin American cinema, showcase the work of our creators, and, through the participation and moderation of directors, screenwriters, actors, critics, librarians, cultural managers, teachers, and other professionals, bring the filmmaking process closer to the public.
There are only two requirements to participate in this space for film discussion and learning: a good level of Spanish (at least B1) and a valid membership card from one of our libraries.
Electronic Library Resources
Download thousands of digital books on loan, including resources on linguistics, Spanish as a foreign language (ELE), classic and contemporary literary works by Spanish and Latin American authors, history, art, science, and more, as well as editions and materials for children and young adults. Access our digital lending platform and enjoy reading wherever you are.
With this new way of reading, and with new titles added every day, you can discover works from more than two hundred publishers around the world, publications from the Instituto Cervantes, and editions from partner organisations such as the Union of Spanish University Publishers (UNE), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and publishing units of Spain’s General State Administration, as well as magazines and audiovisual materials.
Through our Electronic Library, you can also download audiobooks in Spanish featuring classic and contemporary authors in their original versions, narrated by professional voice actors.
Audiobooks offer an alternative to traditional reading. They are recordings of book content read aloud by a narrator. The recordings feature a single voice and are complete versions of the original works, available in digital format.
They are particularly useful for language learning and teaching, developing listening skills, making the most of leisure time, during journeys and commutes, or while practising certain sports. They are also especially valuable for people with visual impairments, allowing them to enjoy great literature, and for children to listen to stories that interest them.
Our audiobook catalogue includes classic works, contemporary fiction, children’s literature, and works on philosophy and thought. Our audiobooks can also be accessed through the digital lending platform.
Through our Electronic Library, you can also access the many digital magazines subscribed to by the Instituto Cervantes Library Network.
In addition to these cultural and applied linguistics magazines, you can also find a wide range of multidisciplinary journal titles through searches in multiple databases, such as Digitalia, HAPI Online, and Dialnet Plus.
Among the services offered by the library network to its members is free access to a wide range of high-quality specialised databases and information resources.
We provide a complete list of these resources, organised both alphabetically and by subject area.
