Levels
The courses are offered at six levels, ranging from A1 to C2, and are divided into 20- or 30-hour modules. The level structure corresponds to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The CEFR aims to achieve greater uniformity and transparency in foreign language learning across EU member states. This serves to increase mobility among member states, facilitate the mutual recognition of language certificates, and promote cooperation between educational institutions in different countries. The CEFR defines levels that determine linguistic proficiency in terms of communicative competence, active and receptive skills, and language competence for specific purposes.
No prior knowledge of Spanish is required to enroll in A1.1 level courses. To take courses at other levels, you must be a returning student or pass the placement test.
At this level, the student is able to understand and use very common everyday expressions and simple phrases designed to meet immediate needs. They can introduce themselves and others, and ask for and provide basic personal information regarding their place of residence, belongings, and acquaintances. They can interact at a basic level, provided the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to cooperate. Classes at this level are conducted in Spanish, with the active use of English being very limited. The course is divided into two blocks: A1.1 and A1.2.
At this level, the student is able to understand frequently used phrases and expressions related to areas of particularly relevant experience (basic personal and family information, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.). They can communicate when performing simple, everyday tasks requiring only a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar or routine matters. They can describe aspects of their past, their environment, and matters related to their immediate needs in simple terms. It is divided into four blocks: A2.1, A2.2, A2.3, and A2.4.
At this level, the student is able to understand the main points of clear texts in standard language regarding familiar topics, whether in work, study, or leisure contexts. They can handle most situations likely to arise while traveling in areas where the language is spoken. They are capable of producing simple, coherent texts on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. They can describe experiences, events, wishes, and aspirations, as well as briefly justify their opinions or explain their plans. It is divided into four blocks: B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, and B1.4.
At this level, the student is able to understand the main ideas of complex texts dealing with both concrete and abstract topics, including technical material within their field of specialization. They can interact with native speakers with a sufficient degree of fluency and naturalness to ensure effortless communication for both parties. They can produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and defend a viewpoint on general topics by outlining the pros and cons of various options. The course is divided into six blocks: B2.1, B2.2, B2.3, B2.4, B2.5, and B2.6.
At this level, the student is able to understand a wide range of long, demanding texts and recognize implicit meanings within them. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without obvious signs of struggling to find the right words. They are able to use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes. They can produce clear, well-structured, and detailed texts on complex topics, demonstrating correct use of organizational, linking, and cohesive devices. The course is divided into six non-sequential modules—meaning students may take them in any order they wish: C1.1, C1.2, C1.3, C1.4, C1.5 and C1.6.
There is no difficulty in understanding any type of spoken language, expressing oneself fluently, and conveying subtle nuances of meaning with precision. One learns to use idioms, set phrases, and colloquial expressions in conversation. One is capable of writing clear, fluent texts in an appropriate style, as well as reading virtually all forms of written language with ease.

placement tests
If you have studied Spanish before but are unsure of your level, we recommend having one of our teachers assess you so that we can enroll you in a course suited to your knowledge.
- If you have taken a DELE exam (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language), you do not need the placement test.
- A placement test is mandatory for new students enrolling in a level other than A1.1.
- Valid for four months from the date of the test, the proficiency test assesses both written and oral aspects.
- The placement test costs $50, which will be deducted from the registration fee, making it a free test upon registration.
