Catalan, Galician, and Basque Courses
Spain is a country where other languages—such as Catalan, Basque, and Galician—coexist alongside Castilian (Spanish). Instituto Cervantes regards this as one of Spain's key cultural assets and therefore promotes the study and dissemination of these languages by organizing courses based on demand.
About the courses
An in-person Catalan course for beginners that will help you discover a language spoken by over 10 million people. The course offers an introduction to Catalan, covering all four key skills: oral expression and interaction, listening comprehension, and written expression and interaction. Course content and practical exercises are designed around everyday communication needs for personal development within the context of life in Catalonia.
Get ready for the Camino de Santiago with this course, where you will learn the fundamentals of the Galician language for communication. Galician is the native language of Galicia, where it holds official status alongside Spanish. It is spoken by over 3 million people and is a Romance language closely related to Portuguese.
An introductory course on the unique and ancient Basque language and culture. This course will provide you with the fundamentals of the spoken and written language—enabling you to engage in simple interactions—and introduce you to the key characteristics of both traditional Basque culture (folklore, sports, rural life) and modern Basque culture (literature, cinema, music).
