The Cervantes Institute is the institution created by Spain in 1991 to promote and teach Spanish and to disseminate the culture of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. The institution's headquarters are located in Madrid and in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), the birthplace of the writer Miguel de Cervantes. It It is aso present in en 103 cities in 52 countries.

The work of Instituto Cervantes is directed by representatives from the academic, cultural, and literary worlds of Spain and Latin America. In Sydney, it collaborates with australian museums, galleries, theaters, publishers, and other cultural institutions, as well as Spanish and Latin American ones.

Our institution is also responsible for:

• Organize exams for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE), and issue official certificates and diplomas to participants in our courses
• Organize Spanish courses.
• Organize training courses for Spanish teachers.
• Support Hispanists in their activities.
• Promote cultural activities in collaboration with other organizations.
