What are the DELE Diplomas?
The DELE Spanish Diplomas are official certificates that recognize the level of competence and proficiency in the Spanish language. They are awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports.
The Instituto Cervantes is responsible for the academic, administrative, and financial management of the DELE Diplomas, in accordance with the provisions established in Royal Decree 1137/2002 of October 31, Royal Decree 264/2008 of February 22, and Royal Decree 1004/2015 of November 6.
The DELE exams are designed according to the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Manual for Relating Language Examinations to the CEFR, both publications of the Council of Europe.
The range of linguistic content that may be included in the DELE exams is outlined in the document Instituto Cervantes Curriculum Plan: Reference Levels for Spanish (NRE), developed by the Instituto Cervantes based on the CEFR descriptors.

Certify your level of Spanish
The International Spanish Language Evaluation Service (SIELE) is an assessment and certification system that measures Spanish language proficiency and is aimed at students and professionals from all five continents. It is managed entirely through electronic means.
It is promoted by the Instituto Cervantes, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the University of Salamanca, and the University of Buenos Aires, which guarantees quality standards and best practices in the design of the tests, as well as the use of different linguistic varieties of the Spanish-speaking world.
SIELE certifies Spanish language proficiency through four tests: Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Written Expression and Interaction, and Oral Expression and Interaction. It uses the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe as its reference framework.
It is administered at more than 2,000 SIELE examination centers worldwide through scheduled appointments, allowing for efficient administrative procedures and fast grading.
All information about SIELE certificates can be found on the Instituto Cervantes Examination Portal.
