Course description

Participants will reflect on the fundamental concepts of communicative language teaching and their application in the classroom through concrete proposals for planning, developing, and evaluating the teaching–learning process. These contents will be covered in 10 sessions, which will take place over 10 Saturdays.
The knowledge acquired will be complemented by observation and teaching practice under the supervision of a tutor teacher.
Training level
Level A
The course is aimed at individuals who wish to begin a professional career in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, as well as teachers who are at an early stage in their professional careers and lack specialized training.

Graduates and degree holders who wish to specialize in teaching Spanish as a foreign language
Teachers of Spanish as a foreign language and as a second language
Teachers interested in language teaching
Volunteers from non-governmental organizations
For non-native Spanish speakers, a DELE C1 certificate or equivalent is required

Objetives

To become familiar with the basic principles of communicative language teaching
To identify general objectives and learning content
To acquire basic teaching techniques and instructional resources to plan and effectively deliver a class session
To assess whether students have achieved the learning objectives
To observe teaching practice and reflect on the competencies of a Spanish teacher and how to develop them”

Certificate of completion of 40 hours issued by Instituto Cervantes of Beirut.

• The evolution of methodology and the action-oriented approach
• Materials analysis and planning: the teaching unit
• Teaching vocabulary
• Grammar I: basic concepts
• Grammar II: pedagogical grammar
• Pragmatics and culture
• Written skills: reading comprehension, writing, written interaction, and mediation activities
• Oral skills: listening comprehension, speaking, oral interaction, and mediation activities
• Teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) to children and adolescents
• Assessment. Introduction to classroom observation
