Instituto Cervantes los Angeles

Instituto Cervantes is an institution established by Spain in 1991 to promote and teach the Spanish language, as well as to spread the culture of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. Its headquarters are located in Madrid and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), the birthplace of the writer Miguel de Cervantes. Today, Instituto Cervantes is also present in 103 cities across 52 countries.

The work of Instituto Cervantes is guided by leading figures from the academic, cultural, and literary communities of Spain and Latin America. In Los Angeles, it collaborates with museums, galleries, theaters, and other local cultural institutions, as well as with Spanish and Latin American organizations.

Our institution is also responsible for:

• Organizing the exams for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE), as well as issuing the official certificates and diplomas to the participants in our courses.
• Organizing Spanish language courses.
• Organizing professional development courses for Spanish teachers.
• Supporting Hispanic studies scholars in their academic activities.
• Promoting cultural activities in collaboration with other organizations.

Studying Spanish at Instituto Cervantes Los Angeles is more than just learning the language—it is an opportunity to experience and discover the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through our cultural activities and the resources of our library, which offers an extensive collection of Spanish and Latin American literature, films, music, and a wide variety of publications from across the Spanish-speaking world.
